The jig is up, baby--Mom IS in charge!

When a seven year old grasps the unspoken sovereignty of Mom in our lives, it's time to acknowledge that we are fools to deny her lordship over us!

Natalie says, "Mommy, is Grammy going to let Emily come out and baby-sit us?"
"Natalie, Emily is a grown-up. She's married and is a wife. She can't come out because she has to work," says I.
"Emily works?" says she.
"Yes, Emily works."
"What does she do?"
"She works at the Cheese Store."
"What does she do there?"
"She sells cheese."
"But I thought she couldn't come out because Grammy said 'Uh-uh Amily, noooo way. Three kids? You can not watch three kids. Not a good idea, Amily.'" Eerily enough, this was said in a fairly good imitation of Mom's/Grammy's voice.
"Grammy may have said that, but still, Emily's not coming out because of work. Grammy is not in charge of Emily. And you need to stop listening to Mommy's conversations."

James is not believing that Natalie could "string that many words together."

Are you kidding me? Natalie wakes up talking and doesn't stop until she finally falls asleep. James' head would blow up if he spent 30 minutes with her. I pity the man she marries.
