somebody saved my life tonight, sugar bear
almost had your hooks in me, didn't you dear
you nearly had me roped and tied
altar bound, hypnotised
sweet freedom whispered in my ear
man! i love that drive jam! jamming at home is fun, though. you two and would hate me so much if you saw me jamming in the morning. micah hates getting up and i hate sleeping, so for him, my morning jamming must be something terrible.
i realize how obnoxious it is to keep reading the word "jam" and "jamming". just so you know, i know it's obnoxious.
i remember the first song i ever jammed to: raindrops keep fallin' on my head. i would find the tiny record from the red, white and blue, flowered record box and play it on the tiny record player in hashifa vachoo's room. i loved that song so much. when the song was over, i would play it again, then again. i especially liked the end; it got all jazzy.
another song i remember having a similar feeling for was, like a virgin, by madonna. one time, the song came on the radio on the way to mervyn's or the valley plaza or something. i asked mom what a virgin was. she told me that, "a virgin is someone who isn't married". even then, i knew that answer was awfully general.
my adolescence is an awful blur of awful jamming. i'm sure you remember...
high school was tons and tons of jamming at places mom told me not to go. that was the best part; listening to really loud live music with other kids whose parents also think they're being supervised by adults. the mixtapes! the morrissey!the manipulation of hashifa vachoo to not rat me out! it was a very special time.
college was more challenging, jamming wise, than i thought it would be. most of the the girls in my dorm did not know how to jam. rose was a unique exception, though. when we lived in 233, we jammed all the time. sometimes we jammed to her mariah carey and sometimes we jammed to my cap'n jazz. i miss jamming with rose.
tonight, i downloaded raindrops keep fallin' on my head. i still love that song. i've been listening to it over and over. i always make sure to dance during the jazzy part at the end. i hope i'll always like to jam.

have a full length vinyl with that jam on it, if you want it. it's the soundtrack to 'butch cassidy and the sundance kid' it's in really good shape, and yours to have if you desire.
I especially like the part in the EJ song when he says "well it's four o'clock in the morning DAMNIT!" It just so happens that is my drive jam too and I always rewind and sing that particular part with extra rubustness.
matt- i would love that jam on vinyl! thanks!
hasifa vachoo- i love that part, too. after that part i relish singing, "listen to me good!".
I live in the thick of Conservative West Michigan and listen to a lot of Christian radio.
I don't know this song and I feel...well, left out. iTune it to me so I can broaden my jam, dude. (too much?)
